32-year old man killed after being hit by minor’s motorcycle in Mumbai | India News


NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man was killed on Thursday after a 15 year-old boy allegedly hit him with a motorcycle in Mumbai.
Irfan Nawab Ali Shaikh, the victim sustained severe injuries from the crash and was immediately rushed to JJ Hospital for medical attention. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
In response to the incident, Mumbai Police have taken the minor into custody and sent him to a juvenile home.Additionally, the minor’s father has been detained by the authorities. A case has been registered under section 304(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 3 and 4 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
This comes following a similar incident in Pune where a Porsche crash involving a minor that killed two people. The 17-year-old driver, initially granted bail within 15 hours by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), faced lenient bail conditions that sparked widespread public anger. The bail terms, which included writing a reflective essay and working with traffic police, were perceived as too lenient given the gravity of the charges.
In response to the backlash, the Juvenile Justice Board in Pune revoked the minor’s bail and ordered him to be held in an observation home. Furthermore, the board is now contemplating whether to try the teenager as an adult, which could result in a more severe sentence if he is convicted.
The father of the minor involved in the luxury vehicle accident has been sent to police custody until May 24. The Juvenile Justice Board also issued a notice to the 17-year-old, requiring him to appear before them on Wednesday.
