Wang Yi’s 4 lies at the Munich Security Conference

The Munich Security Conference was established in 1963, and is one of the most important international conferences held every February in Munich, Germany. Politicians, statesmen, scientists, experts, entrepreneurs, and famous media organizations from all over the world participate in this conference every year to discuss and discuss international issues. The meeting, held from February 16 to 18, 2024, the death of Alexei Navalny, Putin’s biggest political rival, on the day of the meeting, brought the Ukraine-Russia issue into the spotlight. In addition, Uyghur, Hong Kong, Tibet and other issues were also important topics at the meeting, as in the previous year.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi participated in last year’s Munich Security Conference and spoke on the topic of “building a secure world”. In his statements, he criticized that some countries are treating China with Cold War logic. They also called on these countries to obey the United Nations Charter, abandon the logic of the Cold War, and stop blaming China.

At this year’s Munich Security Conference, Wang Yi did not pretend like last year, but directly defended China’s genocide against the Uyghurs.

He said that some political forces have fabricated too many lies about the issue of Xinjiang in the international community; He claims that the so-called genocide is a complete lie. He also said that the Uighur population has increased from 2 million when the Chinese state was founded to more than 12 million today; The average life expectancy of Uyghurs has been extended from 30 years to 75.6 years; There is one mosque for every 530 Muslims in Xinjiang, and the Chinese government spent money and effort to maintain these mosques; He claimed that the Uyghur language and culture were well protected.

So let’s compare whether Wang Yi’s words are true or not with our actual examples:

First, considering that Wang Yi refers to the Chinese government statistics of the Uighur population in 1953, it is a big mistake to say that the Uighur population is 2 million. Because in 1953, the total population of the Uyghur people in China’s first national census was 4,873,603. Among them, the Uighur population is estimated to be 3,640,125 people. Statistics show that the Chinese population accounts for 6 percent of the total population, Kazakhs account for 10 percent, and other nationalities account for 9 percent.

Indeed, the problem is not that the Uyghur population has “increased” to the current 12 million, but how the Chinese population has increased from around 250,000 to more than 10 million today. But Wang Yi skillfully ignored this point.

Second, although the number of mosques in Uyghur is not much different from that mentioned by Wang Yi, none of these mosques were built or renovated with financial assistance from the Chinese government. If we do a little research, we will see that the number of mosques in Uyghur was about 30,000 before the Chinese Communist regime colonized Uyghur. Chinese researcher Li Shaoxia’s report titled “Exploring the Changes in the Number of Mosques and Management Policies in Xinjiang (新疆师真寺安全电影及管理改题支持)” states that before the so-called liberation, there were 29,500 mosques in Uyghur, and 54,500 people engaged in religious work. Source provided. By 1950, the number of mosques had dropped to 15,000, and the number of religious workers had dropped to 14,000. What is even more surprising is that during the decade of turmoil known as the so-called “Cultural Revolution”, the number of mosques in Uyghur fell to 2,930.

This means that the statements about the Uyghur population and the mosque mentioned by Wang Yi are completely false.

Third, Wang Yi also mentioned that the average life expectancy of Uighurs has increased from 30 years to 76.5 years. But a 2005 report published on the website of the Central Government of the People’s Republic of China gave statistics that Uyghurs have one of the highest longevity rates in China. This statistic is based on the results of China’s third national census. At that time, there were 3,765 people over 100 years old in China, of which 865 were Uyghurs. Because of this, Hotan Diyar was declared as the world’s longest living area by the “International Natural Medicine Research Center (International Natural Medicine Association)”.

Fourthly, mentioning that the Uyghur language and culture are being protected is an extreme shame. As we know, the Uyghur language, the mother tongue of the Uighurs, has been pushed out of education for many years. Even the forced sending of Uyghur children to boarding schools and separation from their parents has been carried out in accordance with the Chinese strategy of eradicating the Uyghur language from the children. Xi Jinping’s initiative to build a large number of mixed residential areas, indeed, the southern Uyghur region, where the Uyghur population is the largest, is being implemented at the fastest pace in recent years. The fact that Uyghur youth are being sent to the Chinese provinces as cheap labor in the name of “foreign employment” is for the destruction of the Uyghur language and culture. Even in the “Nankei Report” released in 2020 by Adrian Zenz, a researcher of the International Commemoration of Victims of Communism Research Fund, it was clearly recorded that the scattering of Uyghurs to the mainland provinces was only to destroy them.

Indeed, although the above-mentioned statements by Wang Yi at the Munich Security Conference are all red lies, Wang Yi unabashedly stated these lies at international meetings. I wonder if Wang Yi is not at all worried that these lies will be slapped on his face.

Not at all! China clearly knows that its lies cannot be hidden. But he is still trying to cover up his crimes with these lies.

Paul Joseph Goebbels, a famous figure who became famous for his propaganda during World War II genocide against the Jews, said, “A lie repeated a thousand times does not become the truth. But if you repeat a lie a thousand times and don’t allow others to discover it, many people will believe the lie to be true.” Indeed, even if China tells its lies a thousand times, it will not become the truth. But in order to turn China’s lies into truth, it is necessary to silence the countries of the world. Can China do it? From our current situation, China is trying to do so. We have seen this from the situation of the countries that are listening to China’s lies and remain silent at the UN meetings. But we will never stop presenting the truth and exposing China’s lies. We believe that the peace of the world will be secured not by keeping silent about the Uyghur genocide, but by bringing the perpetrators of the genocide to justice.
