Egyptian champion Ali Farag – ranked first in the world in squash – took advantage of his coronation ceremony as the JPMorgan Championship in the United States, and sent a strong message to Israel for its aggression against Gaza while wearing a T-shirt bearing the inscriptions of the Palestinian scarf and the phrase “It is a nation.”
Faraj was crowned the world champion of the game after defeating Peruvian player Diego Elias in the final of the tournament held in America last Friday evening.
After winning the world championship title, Faraj – in his speech to the fans – criticized what was happening in the Gaza Strip by the occupation forces, saying, “Before talking about the match and the amazing tournament that we played, I want to talk about only one topic that is the most important in the Middle East: what is happening.” Since October 7, 30,000 people have been killed, including men, children and women, 85% of the 2 million population of Gaza have been displaced and homes destroyed,” he added, adding that this must stop.
Faraj added, “I am disappointed in the American position because everything that has been done since October 7 has been covered up. There must be justice. Everything that is happening must stop today and not tomorrow, so please this is not something related to Arabs or Muslims.” “But it is about humanity and it must stop now.”
