Only strong action against rebels can restore Sharad Pawar’s credibility, says Congress | India News
Amid the split in NCP and uncertainty for MVA grand alliance, Congress is warning that Sharad Pawar faces a strong crisis of credibility, and only a demonstrably strong action against the defectors can restore the trustworthiness of the Maratha strongman.
As the drama unfolded, Congress ranks were aghast at the bonhomie that Pawar senior and Supriya Sule showed for Ajit Pawar, with words like “love” and “respect” bandied about for the breakaway kin. “They are behaving as if nothing has happened. The allies and the people cannot figure out what is the truth in the whole drama,” a perplexed Congress leader said.
In contrast, Congress has a high opinion about Uddhav Thackeray who has taken on the rebel Shiv Sena led by CM Eknath Shinde, and mounted a serious challenge. The party believes that Sena rank and file has remained with Thackeray because he took a strong line against the rebels as well as BJP.
